Ben, a former Nobu executive chef, has traveled the world cooking and eating, and now teaching students about cuisines that are bold and impactful. Starting from the bottom at Nobu, "Chef Osh" was promoted and transferred from L.A. to Moscow, to NYC. Through his years in the kitchen of one of the world 's most renowned restaurants he has gained an intimate knowledge of Japanese food. He's also delved into cooking from many other regions of Asia, India, Israel, South America and Mexico, and loves Levain Bakery, pickling, curing, fermentation, and smoking. We are very excited to welcome him to the BLVD family!
AJ is a chef, culinary instructor, and professional speaker who has been devoted to a plant-based diet for almost 40 years. She's also an author and TV host. She travels extensively sharing her personal experience and delicious, accessible recipes for creating foods that nourish the body with her devoted fans all over the world. As a former comedian, she's a riot to spend time with, and there's rarely a dull moment in any of Chef AJ's classes here at BLVD!
Darryl's life as a chef started out as a way to earn friends on bus rides to a new school over 40 years ago, and has grown into a passion for bringing people together around inventive, delicious and inspiring food. He is also a noted wine collector and expert in pairing wine with food to make a great dining experience even more memorable. The guy can mix up a fabulous cocktail, too. Darryl hand-makes a delectable line of confections you will find in our shop, and through DEW Foods, provides one-of-a-kind private dining events in Los Angeles and New York City.
Dr. JJ is a board-certified pediatrician, on-air medical expert on Hallmark's Home & Family TV show, an entrepreneur (she founded MD Moms and a highly successful medical practice), a noted expert on heath issues affecting children and teens, and a trained chef. Her love of food and creativity in the kitchen were honed in culinary school and in dozens of classes over the last 3 decades. Now one of our most popular instructors and the genius behind the Kid Doc line of artisan foods, JJ loves to entertain and make bread, one-of-a-kind ice creams and pastries.
Katie was rescued from an ordinary life in entertainment by a reconnection with her mother, who founded one of the first authentic Chinese restaurants in Minnesota. Inspired to travel and write a cookbook together, the two went on to appear on The Food Network and build a successful catering company. Katie carries on that legacy today with four published cookbooks, her Wok Star Catering and Fortune Cookie Divas businesses, and popular live video series. We love that she makes time to teach here at BLVD!
Liset's passion for desserts began in her family's bakery in Ecuador, where she helped bake, decorate, and even deliver sweet treats. She's been teaching in Southern California for years, and is proud that many of her former students now run their own cake businesses. Her talents come to life at her company, Iced Dreams, featuring one-of-a-kind custom cakes and home made ice creams. We're thrilled that she's bringing her marvelous skills to our BLVD team.
Chef Michal has come a long way since making pumpkin cookies with orange icing in nursery school. After starting a catering business at age 25, attending the cooking school at Ma Maison, and opening up her Studio City restaurant, Michal's Cuisine, she has been feeding delighted clients at corporate events, weddings and celebrations of all kinds for years. Sought out by studios, food manufacturers, and non-profit groups for her expertise, we are thrilled to have her leading our culinary programs here at BLVD.
Nephresha the Cooking Coach is on a mission to empower her students with the confidence and skills to create fresh, flavorful food in their own kitchens. She also wants to banish the myth that eating healthy is boring, complicated, and expensive. Her family's culinary roots are global, and she gives them credit for her unique approach to spices and seasonings. Classes with Nephresha are one of our favorite sources for kitchen tips, simple techniques, and practical, money-saving ideas.
Nishi was born and raised in India but found her roots in Los Angeles. For as long as she can remember, cooking has been a part of her life, and experimenting with food has been a passion. After working in less food-focused careers, she found her true calling in teaching and sharing her talents. Now, she is highly sought after by local culinary schools (lucky us!) to help budding chefs expand their knowledge of global cooking techniques.
Rio, at 16, is BLVD's youngest instructor, but he's been cooking, learning and sharing his love of food since he was 8 years old. In addition to catering for the past five years and teaching privately here in LA, he's travelled the world exploring different cuisines and cultures, and has worked in multiple restaurants, including at the 2 star Michelin restaurant Melisse.
